27 August 2010, 3:45 pm

Soon the Seattle Mariners will probably be the third team in baseball to be officially taken out of 2010 playoff contention (their "elimination number" is 8). They currently have the second worst record in the American League with 50-77 (.394). Its even possible that they could lose over 100 games for the season. The Seattle Mariners are historically not that great of a team. Since starting in 1977, the franchise has a losing record with 2,511 wins and 2,837 losses. The Mariners have made it to the playoffs four times previously, but never won the AL Pennant. They did, however, have winning seasons last year and in 2007.
